Beginning Band
The Beginning Band is a class that meets every day during school. You do not need to know anything about music or how to play an instrument to join. You will learn how to read music, how to play a musical instrument, and have a lot of fun while you are learning!
We have instruments at the school that you can use. If you already have an instrument, that’s great, you can use your own, if it is in working condition and it is an instrument that is taught in the course. The course is designed to teach traditional band instruments. These instruments may include flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion (mallets, snare, etc.)
Piano is not taught in the course, but mallet keyboard instruments are. The bars on a mallet keyboard instrument are set up like the keys on a piano. Learning a mallet keyboard instrument may be a good option for someone who likes the piano and wants to join Beginning Band. Guitar is not taught in the beginning band class, but electric bass guitar is. They are not the same, but electric bass guitar may be a good option for someone who likes the guitar and wants to join the Beginning Band.
Please check with Mr. Salgado before you enroll if you wish to play an instrument other than a traditional band instrument. Mr. Salgado will let you know if that instrument is an option.
This course is perfect for anyone wishing to learn how to play an instrument in a fun and relaxed environment. You will need to practice your instrument at home in order to be successful in Beginning Band. Members of the Beginning Band are not in the marching band. Contact Mr. Salgado today if you are interested in joining the Beginning Band!
